Privacy policy

Context and obligations

Warrington Scott has a privacy policy which seeks to ensure that the collection, use, disclosure, handling, security, transfer and general management of personal information is done in a manner that best serves our clients and is in accordance with the law.

What personal information Warrington Scott collects

The personal information that Warrington Scott may need to collect about you will depend on the type of services and products that you make use of and the requirements of external services and/or product providers that you utilise. Requests for such information (by external product providers in particular) will usually be contained in application forms. The information required may include, but not be limited to: your name, address, email, mobile or phone number, age, current investments, future financial goals and health related information (essential for insurance purposes).

In addition, in accordance with the AML/CTF Act, Warrington Scott is required to undertake identification procedures requiring personal information.

Warrington Scott records all its telephone conversations for verification purpose. All incoming callers are advised about this. If you do not want your phone call to be recorded, please let us know at the start of the call.

Use of personal information

Warrington Scott understands and appreciates that that you may be concerned about the confidentiality of personal information that is collected from you in order to provide you with financial and insurance services and advice.

Accordingly Warrington Scott:

  • will only request and use personal information from you that it specifically needs in order to provide advice, a service or process an insurance claim
  • will only request and use personal information from you and will not seek to collect information elsewhere without express permission
  • will only use the information for the express purpose for which it was collected
  • will only hold and transmit personal information if its security can be assured
  • will not provide any personal information to a third party without your express permission (unless required by law)
  • ensures that all staff and consultants, who have access to personal information, sign and adhere to a confidentiality agreement as part of their conditions of employment
  • provides a copy of its Privacy Policy to all its staff and representatives on appointment and provides its Privacy Statement to clients and potential clients on request
  • will, on request, provide you with access to the personal information held about you
  • will allow you to opt-out of the provision of the receipt of information (eg newsletters)
  • will allow you to nominate how we communicate with you for material that contains your personal information
  • has a Terms of Use of our website statement
  • has a Complaints Policy if you want to make a privacy related complaint.

The use and disclose of personal information collected from you by external product providers in their application forms will be governed by their privacy statements which are usually set out in the provider’s Product Disclosure Statement.

Security of personal information

Warrington Scott takes all reasonable steps to preserve the security of the personal information it collects. All stored client information is protected from unauthorised access through the use of secure passwords and user log-ons and other physical security procedures. These include the use of a secure destruction service for discarded documents.

Accessing and updating client personal information

You are able to access and update the personal information that Warrington Scott holds. To view or amend personal information that we hold, please contact us on 02 9386 5968.

Warrington Scott takes all reasonable steps to ensure that the personal information which we collect, use and disclose is accurate, complete and up‑to#8209;date.
